Pyeongchang 2018

The Korean torch, painted in white and gold, is 700 mm long, a figure that corresponds to the height meters of the city of Pyeongchang. Its five-cornered shape represents unity among nations, races, religions, genders, and cultures. Its shape also symbolized the five continents united under the passion for sports. The torch was built to withstand sudden changes in weather and possible weather mishaps. My journey spanned 101 days in many locations in South Korea, shedding light on the culture, technology, and identity value of a cutting-edge country. The Korean edition was held in two separate locations depending on the discipline; however, some competitions such as alpine skiing, snowboarding, and biathlon suffered multiple postponements due to high winds. Due to a doping scandal, Russian athletes were only allowed to participate under a neutral flag, known as ROC.
