The torch design for the 2022 Beijing Winter Games draws inspiration from the scroll motif of the 2008 edition and features a ribbon-like shape in red and silver, representing the themes of heat and ice. Despite being hosted in Beijing, many of the competitions were held in other locations. The Winter Games in Beijing were held under strict protocols and without spectators due to the ongoing global pandemic and amid rising diplomatic tensions. The closing ceremony marked the end of the Games on February 20, 2022. However, just four days after the Games concluded and I was shut down, Russia invaded Ukraine.
