London 2012
The torch for the London 2012 Games has a triangular shape representing the Olympic values, excellence, friendship and respect, the Olympic motto "Citius, Altius, Fortius" and the number of times London has hosted the event. The torch is very light, and it is possible to see my heart burning through the 8,000 holes that run through the aluminum alloy body - a reminder of the 8,000 torchbearers who traveled 8,000 miles across the United Kingdom. The very intricate route was designed so that each UK citizen would not be more than an hour and a half away from me. The Olympic cauldron used in the opening ceremony had copper petals that were lit and joined together to form a flower of fire, and participating countries were allowed to take a petal as a memento.
