Salt Lake City 2002

The torch features a goblet made of transparent material, representing ice, while the pole's surface transitions from an aged silver and copper finish to a modern, shiny one at the torchbearer's handle, symbolizing the fusion of past and present. During my journey in the United States, I passed through numerous locations and was carried by inspiring torchbearers. Upon arrival in Utah, I was carried to the cauldron by the entire gold-medal-winning U.S. Hockey team from the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, where they defeated the USSR. One of the highlights of the games was watching Canadian skater Marc Gagnon win two gold medals and a bronze, despite being advised against the sport as a child due to a knee defect.
